Skin and mind

Psychodermatology

The field of dermatology that studies how mind and emotions affect skin health — and uses that understanding as part of treatment.

The skin is an organ of communication

The skin is the largest organ of the human body, a medium of physical contact and emotional expression. It receives signals from the environment — and from our inner world.

Color, texture, moisture, dryness — every aspect of the skin reflects our psychological and physiological state. Treating skin in isolation is incomplete care.

A growing specialty

Psychodermatology is growing within contemporary medicine. I coordinate and serve on the Psychodermatology Department of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD) and belong to the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry (ESDaP).

I bring this expertise to the office through the DermatológicaMENTE Method, which unites dermatological diagnosis, psychoeducation and mind-body tools.
